Why did you decide to register to this race?

The main organizer Jouni’s father Eero sent a message to Kati last summer telling that there is a race next August that sounds something we might be interested in. The race sounded really attractive and we registered. We love Lapland, hiking and long-distance races, and we get easily inspired by all kinds of crazy challenges.

What kind of trip you expect LWC to be?

We expect beautiful nature, too much rain, too many mosquitoes, lots of blisters and way too much of getting lost in the wilderness.

Tell something about your team. What does the name stand for?

Our team is called Twin Turtles. First of all, the name stands for that we are twins. We look the same and are very much alike in practice. We are also equally slow. And that is what the second part of our team name stands for. Turtles are slow. We are slow. But we hope to be enduring.

What is the longest distance you have traveled in terrain (by foot) in 24 hours?

Kaldoaivi Ultra Trail 130 km.

What’s your goal in LWC?

We hope to not to get lost too much in the wilderness and hope to endure all five days and find the finish line on Thursday. We hope to enjoy the beautiful nature of Vätsäri and Kaldoavi and have a nice experience in Lapland.

Twin Turtles (Jaana Tervo and Kati Tervo-Niemelä) have done 130 km long Kaldoaivi Ultra Trail, so LWC should be an easy one – just add a few more days…
