Why did you decide to register to this race?
At first it was a joke. We both like orienteering and had discussed about going to new 1-hour rogaining events which are held in our home town every second Monday. Then Lotta saw this race in Rogaining Finland -calendar and suddenly we were exploring maps and pictures of the Kaldoaivi and Vätsäri area.
We have done a few rogaining races by bike together and we both have experience of hiking, so this seemed like interesting challenge.
What kind of trip you expect LWC to be?
We expect great sceneries and even greater experiences.
Tell something about your team. What does the name stand for?
Our motto is finnish saying ”ei matka tapa vaan vauhti”, meaning it’s not the distance that kills you but the pace. So our team name (”Cloudberry pickers”) implies that you probably don’t see us running, but you may see us picking up berries on the way. 😊
What is the longest distance you have traveled in terrain (by foot) in 24 hours?
We haven’t done any ultra-races or such competitions by foot before. Usually when we go to wilderness we take full backpacks and spend 7–8 days on the go. So this is going to be a new kind of adventure for us!
What’s your goal in LWC?
Our goal is to find out how far we can go and get back on time!
